Downtime / Important: Custom Domain Users
Posted by borg on February 26th, 2010We will be changing our network IPs shortly (within the next 24 hours). This change will result in some downtime (less than 1 hour) for most users.
However, forum owners who use a custom domain (mydomain.com) for their forums may experience longer downtimes. To reduce the downtime, lower the TTL on your DNS service to a low number (like 600) for the entries that point to this service. After the downtime has occurred, please check back here to confirm that the changes have taken place. Remove all entires containing “38.99.249.226″ with the new IP and increase the TTL to its normal levels. The new IP will be listed here shortly.
Sorry for the inconvenience. if you have questions or issues, please visit our support forums.
-Updated-
Things should be back up now. For those with a custom domain, please change entries that contain 38.99.249.226 to 216.18.214.242
-More Info-
Some users are having issues accessing our service. It is due to the user’s ISP not having the updated information. The information below might help.
The issue will get resolved once the user’s internet provider gets updated with the new information. It usually takes 24-48 hours in worst case scenarios (most took about a few hours). About 12 hours has elapsed since the update. Ask them to check every couple of hours or tomorrow.
If they are really impatient, tell them to use opendns.com . It will give them access immediately.
Again, we apologize for the issue…
